A new car warranty, or original manufacturer’s warranty, is a legal contract between the purchaser of a vehicle and the manufacturer. The warranty will normally guarantee the reliability and function of specific parts over a predetermined period of time, or in some cases mileage. The warranty will also cover service charges to replace or repair parts in the event that you should have problems with the vehicle.
Original manufacturer’s warranties vary in the extent of their coverage, and in the amount of time or mileage in which the vehicle is guaranteed. They serve as a protection to the consumer that the purchased vehicle is not defective, as shipped from the manufacturer.
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, “extended warranties don’t exist because by definition, warranties are included in the selling price of a vehicle.” Moreover, “the level of service varies greatly depending on the terms of the contract of a specific auto dealer.” Thus, the question one may ask is: Which company has the best extended auto warranty?
Research indicates that a company called Warranty Direct is the one to choose when looking for extended auto warranties. Named one of the top 200 companies by Forbes Magazine, Warranty Direct has been in business for more than 27 years, and has sold more extended warranties than any other company to date.
Once you bring your new car home you may be worried what will happen to it down the road and debating if you should start getting extended auto warranty quotes.
It’s never a bad idea to look into the protection options for your car. Even if you later decide you don’t need an extended warranty, it will feel good to know you did your homework and made a wise decision.
Before you start calling around for an extended warranty, you need to make a list of the reasons you need one.
My dad never needed a car care warranty. So why should I bother with one? About once a month I get something in the mail telling me about some new warranty service for my car. My car is only 4 years old. I take it to the shop regularly. Why would I need a warranty? I don’t even know what good it is, anyhow.
You see, my dad was very thorough and very mechanically inclined. If ever a car had a problem, he solved it and usually quite quickly. Because he took such good care of his cars there were rarely any serious issues. Well, there are exceptions.
